A native of Dallas, Jessica first developed her vocal skills in the local Baptist church where her father, a psychologist, also worked as a youth minister. When Jessica was 12 she auditioned for the Mickey Mouse Club, where Jessica's talents took her all the way to the finals. The following year while attending religious camp, Jessica delivered an acappella version of "Amazing Grace" for one of the camp's guest speakers, of whom was launching a new gospel music label. Jessica signed up. Three years later after the small label folded, Jessica took the material she had worked on and began to hit the Christian Youth Conference circuit. News of the teenage Texan with the grown-up voice soon began to filter out of the religious world and into the pop music realm and it was only a matter of time before the major labels expressed interest.
In the late 90's, Jessica signed with Columbia Records. Sweet Kisses, her major label debut, was released in 1999 and spawned the smash singles "I Wanna Love You Forever," "I Think I'm In Love," and "Where You Are." Following the release of her debut, Jessica hit the road, wowing audiences worldwide with her soaring emotion-packed vocals and high-energy stage presence. The title track to Irresistible, her 2001 follow-up, was a crossover smash, charting on the Hot 100 (#15), the Rhythmic Top 40 (#12), Top 40 Mainstream (#3) and Top 40 Tracks (#5). Since the release of Irresistible, Jessica's been working on her acting r�sum�. In addition to her recurring role on "That 70's Show," she can be seen in an episode of UPN's "The Twilight Zone." Biography of Salma Hayek (One of Hollywood's most dazzling leading actresses)
Career in Hollywood: Despite limited fluency in English, Hayek moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1991 to study acting under Stella Adler, hoping for a career in Hollywood. Robert Rodriguez and his producer wife Elizabeth Avellan soon gave Hayek the break she needed, a starring role opposite Antonio Banderas in 1995's Desperado. The movie caught Hollywood's attention, as moviegoers proved to be as dazzled by Hayek as Rodriguez had been. Due to Salma's loyalty to the director she would later decline playing the role Catherine Zeta-Jones eventually took in The Mask of Zorro after Rodriguez abandoned the project.
Mini Biography: The amazing Salma Hayek was born on September 2, 1966, in the oil boomtown of Coatzacoalcos, Mexico. Hayek has freely admitted that she and her brother, Sami (designs custom chairs) were spoiled rotten by her well-to-do Lebanese-Mexican businessman father and her Mexican-born opera-singing mother. Father was born in Lebanon and came to Mexico to start a small business where he met her mother. Her younger brother is a highly respected make-up artist in Hollwood. After having seen Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) in a local movie theatre, Salma decided she wanted to become an actress. She was sent to a boarding school in Louisiana at age 12, but was soon sent back home after getting in trouble for frequently terrorizing the nuns! Her education included a stint at a New Orleans convent school, where she pulled pranks on the nuns by setting their clocks back three hours. She was soon expelled. Only after attending Mexico City's Universidad Iberoamericana did she feel ready to pursue acting seriously.
